I am seeking $3.96 from Aurora Energy for a billing discrepancy regarding the period from 13 May to 4 Aug 2023.
My Aurora account just received, shows billing from 13 May to 4 Aug 2023 inclusive. However, I recently changed to 1st Energy as my retail supplier. They advised they took over my supply from 4 Aug, and show my usage from midnight at the end of 3 Aug / beginning of 4 Aug. Hence, it would appear that Aurora are charging me for a service they no longer provided on 4 Aug, which seems a very unethical, if not illegal, business practice. 1st Energy recorded a use of 10.768 kWh for 4 Aug, which from regular meter readings I have been taking since 1 July would be 4.9 kWh at Tariff 31 and 5.868 kWh at Tariff 41. Hence, I request a reduction of $3.96 on my current and final Aurora invoice, comprising $1.34986 daily supply charge + $1.47 Tariff 31 + $1.14 Tariff 41 usage for charges that appear to have been levied by Aurora for 4 Aug 2023. I phoned Aurora about this on 12 Sept. They advised that since 1st Energy took over my supply on 4 Aug, they sent out a meter reader to get my final reading on that date, which is rubbish because I have a Smart Meter which automatically transmits my usage to them. When I pointed this out, they said in that case they would have taken my readings when they arrived at work on 4 Aug. When I pointed out that 1st Energy started recording my usage from midnight at the beginning of 4 Aug, I was told that is the way Aurora's billing works and I will just have to pay 2 suppliers for 4 Aug. (See attached file 1stEnergy.jpg showing 1st Energy's first recording of my usage from midnight at the start of 4 Aug). I then attempted to fill in Aurora's online complaint form, but every time I attempted to submit it, I received a screen saying "Off the Cradle Mountain path" (see attached file AuroraComplaint.jpg)
