Complaint regarding endeavour energy's failure to enforce service and installation rules, causing nuisance. requesting correct installation or underground service.
I would like to complain about Endeavour Energy's refusal to enforce the minimum standards of the Service and Installation Rules of NSW (the Rules) for a service installation where they are the Network Operator.
A private pole was replaced by our neighbour and the associate overhead service encroaches our land without an easement in place. The new pole required an extended overhead service. Both clauses 1.12.11 and 3.1.5 state the new pole and associated overhead service must comply with the Rules as the works is required by the consumer (due to weathering of the existing pole) and required the overhead service to be extended by 500 mm.
When I provided all the facts to the administrators of the Rules, the Office of Energy and Climate Change, they stated in an Email to me "I can confirm that the new installation will need to comply with the current Service and Installation Rules if you are replacing a private pole."
I complained about this to a few bodies, but no one has investigated it properly.
The issue has affected us as it is across our land, without an easement, and our view, causing nuisance.
Four time I have offered to pay for the entire service to be place underground (twice verbally before the new installation and twice in writing after the new installation), but our Neighbour has rejected the offers. The last time because the work could be annoying.
We would like Endeavour Energy to step up as the network operator and allow us to pay for the correct installation. If the Neighbour does not want the underground service, we would like it to comply and be to the nearest street pole and not across our land where there is no easement in place.

Whilst Australia’s energy network is fairly robust, things can occasionally go wrong. Whether it's a power outage or an error in billing, Ajust is here to streamline the complaint process and ensure a timely resolution.

Find out the best way to make a complaint to your electricity or gas provider. We cover the 3 big energy retailers (AGL, EnergyAustralia and Origin Energy), as well as smaller companies. We also share guidance about the big issues facing energy consumers – like rising bills, meter reads and estimates, rebates, poor customer service and delays.
