Customer complains about delays in billing and lack of information regarding usage and costs in powershop app.
My wife and myself decided to install a Solar System to reduce energy costs in the long term. On advice from our installer and friends we chose Powershop as the best pricing option in both usage and feed-in. We signed up with Powershop on the 28th September 2023. We installed our solar system on 6th November and unable to use the solar system until the smart meter was installed which was completed on the 23rd November. Powershop were notified and we were informed that it could take up to 20 days to transfer billing information. We were issued a bill for the November period with payment due on the 20th December but it was put on hold on the 18th December. To date we have not received a bill or statement and informed that this was due to the requirement to change from a fixed rate to Flexible Time of Use Rate, well over the time period originally stated. I have spoken to neighbors and other customers, and they have never experienced such delays. Smart meters and Time of Use Rates have been around for a long time. The Powershop App clearly displays the usage and feed-in amounts and costs but only displays a usage cost and amount owing in the overall balance. Is this normal in the industry. Your help in resolving this issue and us understanding it would be greatly appreciated. Regards Don and Jan Burns.

WE SUGGEST

Whilst Australia’s energy network is fairly robust, things can occasionally go wrong. Whether it's a power outage or an error in billing, Ajust is here to streamline the complaint process and ensure a timely resolution.

Find out the best way to make a complaint to your electricity or gas provider. We cover the 3 big energy retailers (AGL, EnergyAustralia and Origin Energy), as well as smaller companies. We also share guidance about the big issues facing energy consumers – like rising bills, meter reads and estimates, rebates, poor customer service and delays.
