Customer seeks apology and resolution from imb bank after negative experience with unhelpful teller at crown st. branch.
My name is Maree Sierra-Onofri. Yesterday the 19th June my husband and and I attended the Crown St. Branch with the intention of transferring $600k to another of my banking institutions in order to take advantage of their 5.3% term deposit rate knowing the IMB will not match higher rates. We had transferred an identical amount 2 weeks prior undertaking this transaction at the Figtree Branch without an issue. I provided my driver's licence as identification as I always do. I showed the teller our online banking accounts and I provided a slip of paper with my account number at the Great Southern Bank where I wanted to transfer this money to. The teller looked at my papers and dismissed our request flat out stating she required a bank statement to verify my bank account. I explained I was giving her my bank account details but she flatly refused saying her hands were tied. I didn't want to argue with her so my husband and I left the branch and proceeded to the Figtree Branch. At Figtree the young lady processed our request without a fuss doing her due diligence checks and having her Branch manager check and verify the amount and account number etc as I would expect them to do. I resent the way that teller made me feel. She made no effort to listen to me. The irony is that when I saw her I knew the transaction woukd not be straight forward as I have had the displeasure of her lack of service on a previous occasion. I expected her to not facilitate my request and that's exactly what she did. May I suggest some of your 'older' staff be reminded what customer service entails and who is paying their pay cheque@

WE SUGGEST

Banks play a hugely important role in society by helping people facilitate day to day transactions and manage financial affairs. Whilst banks are typically extremely reliable, occasionally people do have an issue that needs fixing. Whether it's an incorrect fee or a transaction you don’t recognise, Ajust is here to simplify the process of creating your complaint.

We explain how to complain to any bank – from the big 4 (ANZ, CBA, NAB and Westpac), to credit unions, neo-banks and everything in between. We also share guidance about common issues facing banking consumers, including unauthorised transactions, faulty ATMs, branch closures, poor customer service, delays and more.

How to complain to

IMB Bank

Ajust helps hundreds of consumers resolve complaints every month. By following the simple process, Ajust will get the right information to the right place at your bank so that they can resolve your complaint. Here are some things to keep in mind when you’re getting started.

01
Describe the issue and how it affected you
It’s important to be clear about what went wrong, such as an unauthorised transaction or a problem with online banking. Be sure to tell your bank how the issue affected you so that they can act swiftly to resolve your complaint.
02
Consider how you’d like your bank to resolve your complaint
Help your bank by being clear about the outcome you are requesting, such as a refund of unauthorised charges or an apology for an outage. This will help the bank work swiftly to investigate and resolve the issue.
03
Gather any materials that support your complaint
Sharing relevant documentation can help your bank identify your issue faster. Consider sharing files such as bank statements or transaction receipts so that the bank can visually identify your issue and work towards a solution.
